COVID 19

Sanitation has been declared one of the essential services during the COVID-19 crisis. Sanitation workers are an integral part of sanitation service delivery and TNUSSP team has been engaging with them with the objective of improving their safety, health and welfare. In response to the current public health crisis, TNUSSP has developed a set of guidelines for different categories of sanitation workers such as community/public toilet cleaners, de-sludging operators and FSTP operators based on their nature of work. These guidelines cover i) general preventive and mitigation measures, ii) hand washing and iii) appropriate use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Additionally, we have also prepared a guideline for the safe and sustained operation of the Fecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs).

These guidelines are in line with the latest WHO and government protocols. They may change as new information emerges.
