Karunguzhi, a town panchayat in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu was identified by the government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) to demonstrate septage management. To demonstrate an effective and efficient septage management operation to be scaled up across the state, a cluster of urban locations comprising of Karunguzhi town panchayat and the adjacent Madhuranthagam municipality were identified to pilot the state’s first fecal sludge treatment plant (FSTP).
