The FSTP in Karunguzhi is the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu and is often used to provide on-site trainings to government officers, self-help groups (SHGs), desludging operators, sanitation workers, masons, and students. Events around the World Toilet Day have been organised at the FSTP as part of awareness campaigns for school and college students among others. The facility is also being used for studies conducted by research organisations.
