On 19 November 2024, World Toilet Day, IIHS-TNUSSP organised multiple impactful initiatives to raise awareness about inclusive sanitation and best toilet practices.

Campaign Flag-Off Event in Maraimalai Nagar

In collaboration with the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality, a vibrant awareness campaign was launched to emphasise the role of sanitation in public health and well-being. At a flag-off event held at the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality Commissioner Office, Tamil Nadu’s Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) mascot, “Kakkaman,” was introduced in the locality.

The campaign featured four autos adorned with eye-catching posters and jingles promoting safe sanitation practices. These autos were flagged off by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Commissioner of Maraimalai Nagar Municipality. Over two days, the autos traversed all 21 wards of Maraimalai Nagar, spreading key messages about sanitation to the community.

Social Media Campaign for Advocacy

TNUSSP amplified World Toilet Day 2024’s theme—Toilets: A Place for Peace—with a dynamic social media campaign. Through engaging posts, videos, and infographics, the campaign highlighted the need for inclusive sanitation and how safe, accessible toilets contribute to peace, protection and progress for all.

By combining community engagement with digital outreach, TNUSSP ensured a wide-reaching impact on World Toilet Day 2024.
