On 23rd February 2024, the Red Cross Society of Trichy conducted its General Body Meeting at the Collector’s office. During this meeting, IIHS was acknowledged for its efforts in educating desludging operators (DSOs) about first aid processes and equipping them with a manual.

IIHS has been working with the Trichy Red Cross Society in creating this manual for desludging operators. As a first step prior to preparing this manual, IIHS had a consultation meeting with the DSOs of the city, to map out all the occupational hazards they face. This manual was created to exclusively cover the first aid treatments needed for potential accidents in the desludging work of sanitation.

IIHS and the Red Cross Society joined hands to conduct a first-aid training programme for all the DSOs to educate and create awareness. As a token of acknowledgement for this step, the Trichy District Collector gave a certificate of appreciation to IIHS during the Red Cross Society’s general body meeting.

Priscilla from the IIHS City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) project participated in the meeting, representing the organisation, and received the award.
